Full job description
We are seeking Heavy Duty Truck Drivers/Operators for work primarily in the Greater Auckland Area and Waikato, with opportunities beyond. This position requires a Class 2 and Class 4 license, along with 2+ years of experience operating heavy-duty trucks for services such as vacuum loading, hydro-excavation, jetting, and street sweeping.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hydro excavation tasks including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging
- Operate Hydrovac trucks and related equipment safely and professionally
- Supervise Hydrovac Laborers and support their skills development
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding procedures are followed during Hydrovac operations
- Complete pre and post-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance
- Submit all required paperwork accurately and on time
- Capture and submit photos and videos as necessary
- Conduct site visits, assess issues, and determine required tools for clearing blockages in drains and pipes
- Read and understand site plans, levels, and grades
- Set up and operate dewatering systems and bypass pumps
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about quality work and have a solid operational understanding of heavy-duty vehicles. You will operate Hydrovac and other machinery to excavate, load, and move materials such as dirt, debris, and rock.
You should be comfortable using data capture and communication apps like Ego, Bigtime, email, and WhatsApp. Attention to detail and adherence to strict timelines is crucial, as well as being able to perform routine maintenance on vehicles and keep accurate records. This is a physically demanding role that requires excellent communication skills.
