Blueberry Country Ltd. has announced the vacancies for the position of Fruit Picker Jobs in New Zealand 2024. Blueberry Country is a family-owned business. We have established Orchards in Ngatea, Ohaupo, and Otautau and have an orchard under development in Waipu. We are New Zealand’s largest holder of Blueberry land with 750 acres (300+ hectares) currently in production. The company’s mission is to be NZ’s leader in Blueberries. Our head office and main production facilities are located just 20 minutes south of Hamilton, and the blueberries are grown, harvested, frozen, and packed all on-site. We also Pick Your Own (PYO) and café operations through the summer across all our existing orchards.

Fruit Picker jobs activities

• As an Orchard Worker for Blueberry Country Ngatea, you will be responsible for assisting the Orchard Manager in the operational aspects of the Orchard.
• you will be responsible for assisting with maintaining the orchard operations, carrying out skilled orchard tasks.
• Assisting with the supervising of contract groups for planting, pruning and other activities.
• Carry out skilled orchard tasks, including, spraying, mowing, planting and supervision of other orchard staff.
• Assist the Orchard Manager with fresh fruit operations (picker inductions, picking blocks, guiding supervisors, and machine harvesters).
• Set a good example for staff.
• Assist with the planning and organizing of the planting and replanting of the orchard.

Fruit picker jobs requirement

• Several years of orchard experience.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours during the peak seasons, including weekends.
• English skills both verbal and written.
• Numeracy skills.
• Basic computing skills.
