Full job description
This is a fantastic full time permanent position where you will join a great group of people who are looking forward to welcoming you to their team.
As a dairy cattle farm operator, you will be undertaking a variety of tasks throughout the seasons. This is a hands-on position involving operating milking equipment, working as part of a team and maintaining machines for safe and efficient work environment.
Your duties will include but not limited to.
– milk cows through the use of milking machines
– work effectively along side a team of dairy and herd managers
– asses and report on information acquired in milking shed and herd pens
– assist in producing a high quality outcomes
– the ability to work as a team or individually to mitigate and or solve problems
– a general understanding of breeding programs and AI skills
– have a general understanding of animal welfare and ability to identify and treat animals in a timely manner.
About you
The successful applicant will have some previous experience in the dairy industry
To be considered for the role, it’s important you can address the following criteria
– Minimum of one year work experience in recent years
– Enthusiastic herd worker with high attention to detail
– recognized qualifications, certificate one or two in agriculture or relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications
– hold certification in AI and possibly Pregnancy testing
-ability to work under supervision and demonstrate responsibility
– knowledge of milking and Ai equipment
– full driver’s licence
– willing to undergo Q fever testing and vaccination.
