Welder Jobs Full Description
S&S Products Ltd, located in Mangere, Auckland, provides trailer servicing and maintenance as well as a range of quality and affordable trailers. Work involves welding and all related tasks. Work locations can be varied but are within the greater Auckland region. This is a permanent full-time role. You must be available to work from 9.00 am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9.00am – 1.00pm on Saturday, depending on the timeframe of each project.
Hours and Wages
Minimum 30 hours of work is guaranteed weekly. Up to maximum 50 hours per week may be available from time to time.
Wage range is $28 per hour, with potential to earn $ 840 to $1400 per week
Welder Jobs in Auckland Key Responsibilities
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
- Mig welding experience on all thicknesses of steel including sheet metal
- Mechanical experience of trailer components, including bearings, suspension, mechanical and hydraulic braking systems is an advantage
- Fits, assembles and welds metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment
- Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
- Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
- Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
- Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices
Job requirements
- Relevant skill qualification OR 2 years’ relevant experience in welding and machinery
- Physically fit with ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for long periods of time
- Be comfortable working at heights and on ladders
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and high safety-consciousness
- A keen eye for detail
- Reliable & able to get to work on time at a variety of site locations
- The right to work in New Zealand
